Lolohea Qualifies For 2024

Another female Taekwondo athlete has created history by qualifying for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games through merit after winning a silver medal at the Oceania Taekwondo Qualifying tournament in Honiara, Solomon Islands last month.

Another female Taekwondo athlete has created history by qualifying for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games through merit after winning a silver medal at the Oceania Taekwondo Qualifying tournament in Honiara, Solomon Islands last month.

17-year-oldstudent Lolohea Naitasi joins Venice Traill in the sport of Taekwondo in Paris, France in July, 2024 at the Grand Palais strip.

Lolohea &Venice, Archer Chaandvi Prasad, Sailors Viliame Ratulu and Sophia Morgan and the Men’s and Women’s Rugby Sevens teams as the only athletes that have qualified on merit so far to attend the 2024Olympic Games.

Also hoping to qualify will bethe sport ofBoxing that will be travelling to Bangkok, Thailand to compete at the Olympic qualifiers from May 23rd to June 3rd.

Swimming has been actively taking part in Olympic qualifying events with the most recent being that Australian Open and Oceania Open held last month.

At present, the number of Universality places for Swimming has not yet been determined, however it is understood that all NOCs that entered and competed in the FINA World Championships will have the opportunity to compete at Paris 2024.

Athletics have until the 2024 Oceania Athletics Championships from the 1st to 8th of June, 2024 to enter a maximum of three qualified athletes in each individual event if all of them meet the entry standards during the qualifying period. Under the Universality rule, any National Olympic Committee without a qualified athlete or relay team will be permitted to send the highest-ranked male or highest-ranked female athlete to either of the following individual events, namely the 100m, 800m or the marathon.

Judo and Table Tennis will also hope to make its appearance at an Olympic Games with upcoming qualification events. Table Tennis will attend the Oceania Qualification Tournament due to take place in from May 10th to 12th in New Caledonia and Judo will send two of their athletes to the Tahiti Oceania Open 2024 from the 1st to 2nd of June.

The Paris Olympics will be on the 26th of July 26 until the 11th of August.

Team Fiji is expected to depart for the Olympic Games from 11th July, 2024.
