Team Fiji Men’s Basketball have a very experienced side heading into their first game against Tahiti this morning.

With only one new player included in the mix, four other players are not new to competitions at the Pacific Games.

Team Manager Leone Qumi says the Team Fiji Men’s Basketball last won the gold medal in 2007.

He says Fiji is in a very tough pool adding that they have played against these games and previous tournaments.

“We will be looking to better our performance at this year’s Pacific Games in Honiara, after settling for bronze in Samoa 4 years ago,” Qumi added.

With temperatures going up at high as 31 degrees, Qumi says they are happy they were able to arrive early to get the acclimatised to the weather and training conditions.

Team Fiji Men’s Basketball will take on Tahiti at 9 this morning (10am FJT).

In their other pool matches, Fiji will face Tonga at 6pm (7pm FJT) next Monday, while their final pool match will be against New Caledonia at 3.45pm (4.45pm FJT) next Tuesday.
