GLASGOW - Fiji’s women’s pairs, Litia Tikoisuva and Losalini Tukai, are targeting an improved performance against Kenya in the third round of Section C tomorrow, despite going down 0-2 in their second-round match, losing 0-8, 3-5 to Wales at the SEC Centre today.

Fiji failed to register a single shot in the opening set after Amy Williams and Lauren Gowen moved 3-0 clear after two ends and held that advantage to the finish. At the fifth end, Fiji’s first four bowls sat close to the jack before Wales’ fifth bowl cut through the head to take the full count.
Fiji made a genuine contest of the second set. They took the opening end for a 1-0 lead, and when Wales replied with a two, they hit straight back with a two of their own at the third to move 3-2 ahead. The set turned at the fourth, where Wales stole a single to level at 3-3, and the Welsh pair finished the stronger, drawing two shots at the last to close it out.
Despite the result, the experienced Fijian pair remain optimistic heading into their third-round match tomorrow.
Fiji now have one win and one loss after beating Botswana on the opening day yesterday, and remain in contention for a semi-final place. They face Kenya at 3pm local time tomorrow on Rink 3. Kenya are still without a win from two matches.
