IOC Scholarship Recipient Secures Silver

Olympic Solidarity (OS) Scholarship recipient Sophia Morgan secured a two silver medals in the individual event and team event at the 2023 Pacific Games in Honiara, Solomon Islands.

Olympic Solidarity (OS) Scholarship recipient Sophia Morgan secured a two silver medals in the individual event and team event at the 2023 Pacific Games in Honiara, Solomon Islands.

Sophia described the six day event as grueling, but she was pleased with the outcome.

"I would like to dedicate this win to my mum and dad back at home and thank everyone for the support over the past six days," she said.

Fellow teammate Nelle  Nelle Leenders also dedicated the win to her mum.

Sophia had to settle for silver in the individual after a count back.

Also securing bronze medals was Men’s Windsurfing Heavyweight Scotty O'Connor and team mate Andrew Rhodes in the Men's Windsurfing Lightweight.

Australian based Scotty described competition as tough but he was glad to come out of it with a medal.

Nadi based Andrew said the competition was tough but conditions were great for surfing.

"I would like to dedicate this win to my family back home in Nadi," he said.

Both Windsurfers were representing Fiji for the first time at the Pacific Games while Nelle and Sophia were taking part in their second.
