FASANOC has launched a lottery project to help raise money to help send the country's athletes to the 2023 Commonwealth Youth Games in Trinidad and Tobago and the Pacific Games in Honiara, Solomon Islands later this year.
The Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee (FASANOC) has launched a lottery project to help raise money to help send the country's athletes to the 2023 Commonwealth Youth Games in Trinidad and Tobago and the Pacific Games in Honiara, Solomon Islands later this year.
The lottery was launched by Permanent Secretary Ministry of Youth & Sports Rovereto Nayacalevu, with the top prize being a Toyota Hilux valued at $77,000 sponsored by Asco Motors.
Other prizes include Samsung Galaxy mobile phone sponsored by Vodafone, 2 Nights at the Grand Pacific Hotel, 2 Nights at the Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort, 2 Nights at the Tanoa Plaza Hotel, Signed and framed Rugby 7s Jersey from the 2021 Olympic Games, $250 worth of Sports Goods from JR White and a chance to win a 25HP Yamaha Outboard Engine, courtesy of Asco Motors, for those purchasing a complete book of tickets – 10 per book.
Lottery tickets cost $5 each or $50 for a full book. The closing date to sell tickets is set for August 12, 2023, before the draw on August 25, 2023.
Team Fiji is aiming to send more than 500 athletes and officials to participate at the Solomon Islands Pacific Games across a number of sports, including Archery, Athletics & Para, Basketball, Basketball including 3x3, Boxing, Football, Golf, Hockey, Judo, Karate, Netball, Outrigger Canoeing, Powerlifting, Rugby League Nines, Rugby Sevens, Sailing, Swimming, Table Tennis & Para, Taekwondo, Tennis, Touch Rugby, Triathlon, Volleyball, Beach Volleyball and Weightlifting.
The 2023 Pacific Games is scheduled to be held in Honiara, Solomon Islands for the first time, between 19 November and 2 December 2023.
Team Fiji will send a total of 45 athletes and officials to the Commonwealth Youth Games (CYG) participating in Athletics, Cycling, Swimming, Rugby and Triathlon.The CYG will be held from 4-11 August in Trinidad and Tobago.
