Team Fiji Faces Tough Challenges

The Samoa Pacific Games organising committee has released the draws for several sports that will be participating at the 2019 Pacific Games.

The sport of Mixed Badminton, Basketball, Football and Rugby Sevens has been released.

Team Fiji Mixed Badminton finds themselves in a tough pool having been drawn with champions Tahiti and New Caledonia while Team Fiji Basketball Men's has been ranked the top of their pool which includes Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Tahiti.

Team Fiji Basketball Women's team has been ranked second in their pool despite winning the gold medal in 2015 and face off against Cook Islands, New Caledonia and hosts Samoa.

Team Fiji Football Women have been drawn with hosts Samoa, American Samoa, Tonga and New Caledonia.

Team Fiji Football Men have been drawn in the pool of death and will face a tough battle against New Caledonia, Tahiti and Solomon Islands.

The men's team have also been drawn with Tuvalu and American Samoa.

Team Fiji Rugby Women's team are expected to come through their Pool B against Papua New Guinea, Nauru and the Solomon Islands but will have Australia who head pool A waiting to take their revenge after a shock loss to Team Fiji Rugby Women's at the last Pacific Games in 2015.

Team Fiji Rugby Men's team head Pool A and will face off against Cook Islands, New Caledonia, Nauru and Wallis and Futuna.

The men's team is expected to face tough competition from Tonga or Samoa in the semi finals should they make it through their pool.
